Kidney disease is a major public health problem in the United States and around the world. Recent studies indicate that kidney disease is on the rise due to the increased incidence of the major risk factors —diabetes and high blood pressure, and as many as 26 million Americans have chronic kidney disease (CKD). Because symptoms may not appear until the kidneys are actually failing, many people do not take steps to protect the health of their kidneys. The National Kidney Foundation is leading the fight against kidney disease through awareness, prevention and treatment.

  • Your donation is well-spent with the National Kidney Foundation. Nearly 80 cents of every dollar the Foundation receives goes directly to vital programs and services, including:

  • Patient and Community Services offer early detection screenings and ongoing support for patients and families whose lives are changed forever by kidney disease.

  • Public Education Initiatives heighten awareness of the kidneys, kidney disease and healthy lifestyle for those most at risk.

  • Professional Education Programs ensure that kidney doctors and other health care professionals never stop learning the latest in kidney disease treatment.

  • Kidney Research identifies new treatments.

  • Patient Advocacy makes patients' voices heard through legislative action
